Ask Jason, Help My PC Repair Business Is Failing

Start (07:45)
Billy (Stockton, CA) Opened his own PC repair store, he has no debt things but things have been slow and looks like they may have to close up shop and is looking for advice on how to stop his failing business.
- You don’t need a store front to be successful in PC repair save the money each month and lose the store front.
- Marketing Plan: You need to brand yourself in a way that spreads virally, create a Twitter account and a domain called “Ask Billy” and promote yourself as the most helpful person in the area to get a quick answer.
- Refer A Friend program: Create a Purple Cow type postcard / business card (include a picture of you, maybe your philosophy and who you are as a person, tell your story) on the back have it say, Refer A Friend “I’ve used Billy’s services and he does a [BLANK] job. I highly recommend you to give him a call” like a Mad Lib. Give these to your customers asking them to hand them out and if one is claimed they will receive one hour of free service.
- $50 an hour seems too cheap, once you get busy you may need to raise your fee but grandfather your existing customers in or give them a discount.
Joe used to be in the PC repair business, he made over sized post cards and set them to affluent neighborhoods and marketed himself as the businessman that helps businessmen with their PC problems. He also thinks it is important to charge a flat fee so customers would how much it was going to cost them up front.
