TWiST 24, Cry Baby of The Week – Jeffrey Zeldman

Jeffrey Zeldman wrote a blog post named Dirty Little Secret of Success and he professes that to be successful you need to be longing for love and approval.  I personally think this post is more an attempt to be controversial and get attention, what would the “King of Web Standards” know about what drives us.  If their is any merit to his claim, I would be more inclined to believe success is driven by adversity and being brought up in a entrepreneurial spirited family, not longing for love and approval.  Jason and Gary both comment on the blog post (in the video below) and I would contribute Jason’s success to his father’s failure in a business during a pivotal point in Jason’s life and Gary comes from an immigrant background where his parents struggled to provide for them when he was young.  Both experienced adversity which made a lasting impression in their lives and has driven them to succeed.
